Crunchychud Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
In short: Crunchychud reads your Crunchyroll watch history so it can show you statistics about it. That data stays in your browser. It is never sent to the developer or to anyone else, never sold, and never used for advertising.
What Crunchychud is
Crunchychud is a Chrome extension that turns your Crunchyroll watch history into statistics such as hours watched, top shows, genres and viewing patterns. It is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Crunchyroll.
Data the extension accesses
Only when you click Sync, the extension opens crunchyroll.com in a background tab and uses your existing, logged-in Crunchyroll session to request:
- Your watch history: which episodes and movies you played, when, and how far you got, along with each title's name, season, episode number, length, genres, audio language and thumbnail image address.
- Episode lists for the seasons you watched recently, so it can show which episode comes next and which shows you haven't finished.
- Your Crunchyroll account ID, which Crunchyroll's own website uses in the address of these requests.
To make these requests the extension reads the short-lived access token that Crunchyroll's website already uses in that tab. The token is held in memory only for the duration of the sync, is used only to contact crunchyroll.com, and is never stored or sent anywhere else.
Crunchychud never sees or asks for your Crunchyroll password, payment details or email address. On Crunchyroll tabs you open yourself, the extension does nothing.
Where your data is stored
Your synced history, the statistics computed from it, and the optional name you type for share images are saved with Chrome's extension storage on your own device. There is no Crunchychud server and no account.
Who your data is shared with
- No one. The extension contains no analytics, tracking, advertising or third-party code, and it does not transmit your data to the developer or any third party.
- The only network requests it makes go to crunchyroll.com, to fetch your history, episode lists and show thumbnails.
- Share images are created on your device. They only leave it if you copy, download or share one yourself, and then they go only where you choose to send them.
How your data is used
Solely to show you statistics about your own viewing inside the extension and in share images you choose to create. Crunchychud does not sell your data, does not use or transfer it for purposes unrelated to that single purpose, and does not use or transfer it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Deleting your data
- Click Delete my data at the bottom of the Crunchychud stats page to erase everything the extension has stored.
- Uninstalling the extension also removes all of its stored data from your browser.
Children
Crunchychud is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If a future version handles data differently (for example, an optional feature for sharing stats with friends online), this policy will be updated before that version is released and the effective date above will change.
